On Divine Mercy Sunday, Pope Francis released the official announcement of the upcoming Holy Year of Mercy in a Bull of Indiction entitled Misericordia Vultus (click the heading for the full document) The Holy Year will begin on December 8, 2015.

Beginning on December 8, 2105, the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica will be opened for a special Jubilee Year. Pope Francis has called this extraordinary Jubilee for the Church to focus on the theme of Mercy, particularly as it is made available to us in the form of the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Ash Wednesday and Good Friday are obligatory days of fasting and abstinence for Catholics. In addition, Fridays during Lent are obligatory days of abstinence from meat. When fasting, a person is permitted to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may also be taken, but not to equal a full meal. For members of the Latin Catholic Church, the norms on fasting are obligatory from age 18 until age 59. The norms concerning abstinence from meat are binding upon members of the Latin Catholic Church from age 14 onwards.
For anyone who has struggled or is struggling with depression, the Depression Support Group seeks to enable individuals to express how they feel and wheat they do to cope. Those who know people that are struggling with depression are also invited to participate. The Support Group will meet at 6:00 PM on Mondays in the Parish Office (the Bereavement Support Group will be moved up to 7:00 PM).
