"The Church who, as Mother, has borne the Christian sacramentally in her womb during his earthly pilgrimage, accompanies him at his journey's end, in order to surrender him "into the Father's hands." She offers to the Father, in Christ, the child of his grace, and she commits to the earth, in hope, the seed of the body that will rise in glory (cf. 1 Cor. 15:42-44).
Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1683
If Father is not already with the deceased, call the Parish Office immediately to notify him of the death of your family member. Outside of business hours, follow the instructions given by the answering machine to reach Father in case of an emergency.
If the funeral is to be at St. Peter's Church, contact Beth Kelley to make funeral arrangements. Beth will meet with the family members at their convenience in the Parish Office and direct them through the process of planning the funeral. If a cemetery plot is needed, she will also be able to assist the family in selecting and purchasing one.
